The Hanging Church is a Coptic Orthodox church located in the Old Cairo neighborhood, near the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque and the Ben Ezra Temple. It was called "The Hanging" because it was built on two towers of the Roman fort (Babylonian Fortress) established by Emperor Trajan in the second century AD. It is considered one of the oldest churches in Egypt and one of the most prominent religious monuments that reflect the Coptic heritage. It was first built in the third century.
